Happy Thanksgiving. My wish for this thanksgiving is presence, to accept myself and others fully, and really enjoy the food, the gathering, family time, and fun. I've gone through too many special holidays without really being there. Lost in expectations instead of what is, thoughts over food not being prepared quite right or being late or not wearing or saying the right thing, or  worrying about the socializing aspect or my children's behavior instead of just being present and actually connecting. It's easy to let this season of giving, gratitude and family become one of overwhelm. One tool to help prevent this overwhelm: pausing first, before reacting. Taking one moment to pause first, before reacting, helps us disconnect whatever is going on around us with what we feel inside. When we feel calm and kindness inside, the things going on around us don't have to negatively impact us.  Pausing first helps me not take personally whatever happened, whatever someone did or said.
